A few years ago, I found myself working in a full-time social media role with a company that didn’t appreciate me, didn’t value my expertise, and treated me like a printer. Seriously, I wrote more print orders than tweets, Facebook posts, and Instagram captions! I felt helpless, depressed, miserable, and TIRED. Like, ALL THE TIME. Not to mention, there was no real opportunity for growth in my role. As a natural leader, that killed me.

I decided to take a huge leap of faith and start my own social media management agency, a business that really worked FOR me and brought me JOY.

I quickly threw together a simple website and a few guesstimated prices and began to take on any and every client interested in my services, even if I knew we wouldn’t be a great fit. ...Big mistake.

Working with everyone under the sun was just as exhausting as my dead end 9-5, and I was charging so little that I couldn’t get ahead on my bills, make student loan payments, or get myself any closer to my dream of quitting the company I worked for. It was like I was stuck on a treadmill and not moving anywhere.

Today, life looks SO DIFFERENT. I’m married to the man of my dreams, making a steady income each month (over quadruple what I made at my 9-5), am so booked out by happy clients that I needed to hire a TEAM, and have been invited to speak at colleges and lectures around the country.

And my business is only GROWING. It took a LOT of trial and error to get here. It took too many sleepless nights to count and intentional mindset shifts when I felt stuck. It took investing in the tools and resources I needed to grow. It took hard work and developing smart systems. Most of all, it took a strong community to lift me up when I felt unsure and unsteady.
